Day 176 -177 |Fixing the Porch

Day 176

Our final inspection by the bank is coming soon and we are scrambling to finish all the last minute projects. My mom is working on scraping the last bit of paint off the original doors and Kevin tackled replacing the front porch posts. One of the first things the inspector noticed when we purchased the house was that the posts were not aligned so that project was on the have-to-fix list. Another project on the have-to-fix list was the ridge cap on the roof of the garage. It was heavily deteriorated so Kevin had to replace those tiles before the final inspection.

SO MUCH PAINT!

Inside these 6x6 posts are 4x4 wood beams. Kevin created a casing for them with 1x6's to give them a beefier look.

Day 25 | New Carpet

Day 25

Carpet was installed in our bedroom today! We love the color.

So glad we went with gray!

No furniture in the house means naps must be taken on the new carpet. Ok by us! Plastic is still laid that's why it's so shiny.

Kevin also picked up the crown molding at Hacienda Plywood (the kind that matches the Craftsman feel of our house could not be purchased at Lowes) and then installed it in our bedroom and closet and then painted it.

I found this simple guide online for picking moldings that match your historical home:
